  The government has been urged to examine the standard of the sanitary pads donated by donors to enrolled students in host communities and refugee camps across the country. This is in response to a study by the nongovernmental organization Windle International Uganda, which was commissioned by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and found that some students were using subpar sanitary products given by some organizations. While speaking at the release of the findings, the Research and Innovations Officer at Windle International Ms. Hilda Masaba revealed that sixty percent of the girls found themselves using the pads they did not like but they had to use them because they had no choice. The period hygiene management study, which was carried out between November and December in refugee camps and host communities, revealed that cloth menstruation washable pads are frequently used by students. We Are Ready to Roll Out Chinese Language Curriculum Across the Country -Ministry of Education

According to Ms. Grace Baguma, Director of the National Curriculum Development Center (NCDC), Uganda is prepared to teach Chinese at the Advanced Level (A-Level). According to Ms. Baguma, the Minister of Education and Sports has already given the go-ahead for the NCDC to implement a training curriculum for teaching Chinese language in schools. ‘’This would allow the first group of students, who studied Chinese at the Ordinary Level this year, to continue studying the language at the A-Level and will help students get ready for Chinese language degree programs,’’ she said. "We need to encourage our children to be able and master the Chinese language as they go to A-Level in February next year," she continued. Ms. Baguma said that 39 teachers received diplomas during the graduation ceremony for the 4th cohort of the Uganda Secondary School Teacher of Chinese Language Training Program yesterday at the Luyanzi Institute of Technology, Bweyogerere in the Wakiso District.

Ministry of Education Unveils 200 Undergraduate Scholarships for Ugandans

  The Ministry of Education through the Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) has availed study opportunities. A total of 200 scholarships targeting different groups have been availed for eligible Ugandans to pursue a Bachelor of Software Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Public Administration and Management, and Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance. In order for equal representation on the scholarships, 20 slots have been provided for each region in Uganda (North, Central, Eastern, West, and Southwestern). However, for Bachelor of Public Administration and Management and Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, only 10 slots have been provided per region.
